Key words: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) is a systemic autoimmune disease mainlycharacterized by immune-mediated muscle inflammation. Lymphocytes are key immunoregulatory cells in IIM pathogenesis that mediate autoimmune and inflammatory responses. B cell activating factor (BAFF) / a proliferation-inducing ligand ( APRIL) are members of the tumor necrosis factor superfamily. By binding to the corresponding receptors, BAFF / APRIL affects the proliferation, maturation and differentiation of B cells, the survival of plasma cells, and thus regulates the immune response. BAFF / APRIL is involved in the pathogenesis of many autoimmune diseases and is closely related to the occurrence and development of IIM. This article intends to review the research progress of BAFF / APRIL in IIM.
