Abstract: The renin-angiotensin system ( RAS) is composed of dozens of angiotensin peptides, peptidases and various receptors, which specifically regulates the functions of various tissues and organs and maintain the homeostasis of water and electrolyte. The local RAS components are widely distributed in the tissue structure of human eyes and play a series of physiological and pathological roles. This review makes a summary of the main active factors in the RAS system, and how they maintain the physiological function of trabecular tissues and play roles in the aqueous humor dynamics in the primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). In addition, the prospect of using RAS components as potential targets for anti-glaucoma drugs is also review
