Abstract: Sepsis is a common cause of death in intensive care units worldwide. Due to the complexity of this immune syndrome, there is an urgent need to develop new therapeutic strategies. Aquaporins (AQPs) are involved in multiple physiological functions in sepsis, and their expression is regulated to varying degrees. AQPs could be used as drug targets or biomarkers for sepsis treatment, as they are key regulators in sepsis. Further studies on the regulation mechanisms of AQPs may help identify potential therapeutic targets for sepsis.
Key words: aquaporins, immune cells, lipopolysaccharide, sepsis
